Quito, the capital of Ecuador, is at 2.850 mts high. Arrival and transfer to the hotel.

Breakfast at hotel in Quito. Quito City Tour Old Town ( a World UNESCO Heritage Site). Packed lunch. Afternoon visit Teleferico (cable car on Pichincha Volcano) with impressive views of the Andes Mountains and the City. Dinner and overnight stay in Quito Hotel.

Breakfast at hotel in Quito. Drive to Hacienda El Porvenir, located on the slopes of Rumiñahui Volcano on a privileged Valley called El Pedregal. This hacienda is a working ranch with 1000 hectares (2471 acres) dedicated to ecotourism and adventure travel, sustainable agriculture and cattle farming and conservation of the paramo ecosystem. At the hacienda we will have the opportunity to have a authentic cultural interaction with the local Chagras. Chagras are the Andean cowboys that will share with us their knowledge on horse handling and traditional lifestyle. We learn about this fascinating culture first hand with a legendary Chagra from the area. We ride our horses and reach the Mirador de Los Guardianes del Volcán where we learn about the Andean beliefs of the Apus and the Gods of the Mountains, while we have a better understanding of the geological aspects of an active Volcano. At the house corrals we learn how to lasso. A delicious lunch will be served at the hacienda house. During the afternoon we will go to the fields and witness how locals hand milk their cows and later on we will make cheese on a traditional Andean Hut. Dinner and Overnight stay at the hacienda.
4
Hacienda Breakfast. Walk to the local school. Today we will spend time with the kids at the local Primary School, Ana Maria Velasco, located 30 minutes away walking from the hacienda. The school has 30 kids approximately from age 4 to age 12. Our proposal is a sharing through the senses program, in which the kids will communicate and share through music, images, taste, touch and smell their culture with the local kids. The idea is that they don’t need a translator always, and that kids all over the world have similar interests and ways of expressing. It is based on respect and equity understanding that both local and visitors have many things to share and to learn from each other. Local kids will perform, teach local games and the community will prepare some treats to share with the students that are visiting. Return to Hacienda for Lunch. Cooking classes during the afternoon. A hands on experience where we learn how to make empanadas (turnovers) and then we enjoy them with hot chocolate.
Dinner and overnight stay at Hacienda El Porvenir. If weather allows us, we can enjoy a stargazing walk nearby, where both hemispheres can be viewed, a truly unique experience.
5
Hacienda Breakfast. Walk to school again. Today the kids will share through sports. Local kids will learn about the popular sports played on the US such as Baseball, Basketball, duck duck goose, etc. And local kids will teach them typical games that are very popular here such as football (soccer), Blind Chik, etc. Share a snack with the kids form the school and return to the Hacienda. Conservation support during the afternoon where kids will plant native trees and contribute our Million Tree initiative Project. This activity will be performed next to our campsite where after the effort we will enjoy a light snack to recover strength. After planting a tree, students will share some Leave No Trace principles with our guides and learn about camping techniques, setting a tent, making a fire, etc. Dinner and overnight stay at Hacienda El Porvenir.
