Airport reception at Bogota International Airport and transfer to Hotel to rest
Visit the famous Chicaque Natural Reserve. We can see some important birds at hummingbird feeders and in an incredible cloud forest in the western slope of the eastern Andes. Afternoon return to Bogota to rest.
Near-endemic Birds: Golden-bellied Starfrontlet, Matorral Tapaculo, Golden-fronted Whitestart, Rufous-breasted Flycatcher, Moustached Brush-Finch and more.
Full day visit to Chingaza National Park.
Interesting endemic birds to see: Brown-breasted Parakeet, Silvery-throated Spinetail, Near-Endemic Birds : Blue-throated Starfrontlet, Matorral Tapaculo, Golden-fronted Whitestart, Coopery-bellied Pufflegand many more.
Afternoon return to Bogota and fight to Medellin.
Morning birding in La Romera Natural Reserve at Sabaneta village, a nice secondary forest on Medellin Mountains. Lunch in a typical “paisa” restaurant, and afternoon transfer to Jardin Village to rest.

Birdwatching all day in the Yellow-eared Parrot Reserve, the best place in Colombia to see this very important species of parrot; we’ll search for birds in Alto de Ventanas locations on the road from Jardin to Rio Sucio village. Afternoon return to Jardin to rest.
Endemic birds: Yellow-eared Parrot. Also, other birds as Black-billed Mountain-Toucan, Yellow-vented Woodpecker, Spillmann’s Tapaculo, Blackish Tapaculo, Ocellated Tapaculo, Rufous-crowned Tody-Flycatcher, Green-and-black Fruiteater and more.
Early visit to the amazing lek of Andean Cock-of-the-Rock (one of the best in the neo-tropics), where the birds come 2-3 meters close. Sometimes it’s possible to see 20-25 males calling. After breakfast, transfer to Bolombolo, near the Cauca River, a dry forest that has some very interesting and important birds. Afternoon transfer to Manizales.
Endemic birds: Antioquia Wren. Among many other birds you will also see Apical Flycatcher, Greyish Piculet, Black-chested Jay, Andean Cock of the Rock, Speckle-breasted Wren, Black-striped Sparrow, Cocoa Woodcreeper, Spectacled Parrotlet, and more.
Birding in Rio Blanco Natural Reserve, one of the most famous places in Colombia to see birds by the Antpitta feeders; in this location the mixed flocks and the amazing number of birds are fantastic and very easy to see. We will search at night for some owl and nightjar species.
Endemic birds: Brown banded Antpitta, Near Endemic Birds: Bicoloured Antpitta, Agile Tit-Tyrant, and many others.
Birding in the high elevations (4,000 mts) in Los Nevados National Park, an incredible paramo in the central Andes with many special birds and amazing landscapes; we will visit the fantastic hummingbird feeders of “termales” to search for some amazing hummers. Afternoon transfer to Otun-Quimbaya National Park.
Endemic Birds: Buffy Helmetcrest, Rufous-fronted Parakeet, Near-endemic Birds: Black-thighed Puffleg, Golden-breasted Puffleg, Crescent-faced Antpitta, Black-backed Bush-Tanager, and more.
All day birding in the Otun-Quimbaya Sanctuary of Fauna and Flora, a lovely place in the central Andes with some very important and rare birds; we’ll search for birds on a little-used road or on the paths inside the forest. Otun is very good for owling, so we do night explorations in this reserve. Rest in Otun-Quimbaya Park.
Endemic Birds: Cauca Guan, Chestnut Wood-Quail, Multicolored Tanager; Stile´s Tapaculo, Near Endemic Birds: Hooded Antpitta, Moustached Antpitta, Colombian Screech-Owl, Rufousbreasted Flycatcher, Flame-rumped Tanager, Scrub Tanager.
Morning birding in Otun-Quimbaya National Park, and in the afternoon departure to Pueblo Rico municipality and the Cerro Montezuma Natural Reserve.
Montezuma is one of the best places to bird in Colombia, with an elevation gradient on the track from 1100 to 2800 meters, making this places one of the most diverse areas in all Colombia with more than 600 species recorded. We can see many endemics and near-endemics of the Choco Region.
We will explore 4 different spots on the birding track: Los Chorros (highest spot), Cajones (medium spot) and Clarita and Rio Claro (lower spots).
Some important birds: Black-and-gold Tanager, Gold-ringed Tanager, Munchique Wood-Wren, Chestnut-bellied Flowerpiercer, Parker´s Antbird, Alto-Pisones Tapaculo, Crested Ant-Tanager, Near Endemic Birds: Violet tailed Sylph, Brown Inca, Velvet-purple Coronet, Empress Brilliant, Purple-throated Woodstart, Toucan Barbet, Fulvous-dotted Treerunner, Uniform Treehunter, Bar-crested Antshirke, icolored Antvireo, Yellow-breasted Antpitta, Choco Tapaculo, Nariño Tapaculo, Orange-breasted Fruiteater, Club-winged Manakin, Choco Vireo, Beautiful Jay, Sooty headed Wren, Black Solitaire, Black-chinned Mountain-Tanager, Purplish mantlet Tanager, Glistering Green Tanager, Rufous-throated Tanager, Scarlet and White Tanager, Indigo Flowerpiercer, Dusky Bush-Tanager, Tanager Finch, Yellowgreen Brush-Finch, Ochre-breasted Tanager, Yellow-collated Chlorophonia.
Birwatching in the lowlands of Montezuma in the morning, and after lunch transfer to Ibague City to res.
Birding in El Nevado del Tolima, El Silencio and Juntas locations for important birds.
Near Endemic:Tolima Dove, Yellowheaded, Brush Finch, Tolima Blossomcrown, Masked Saltator (endemic). In the afternoon we will visit also San Jorge Botanical Garden. Return to hotel in Ibague.
Early transfer to Mana Dulce Natural Reserve where the birds of the humid tropical forest and dry forest are the main attraction. Apical Flycatcher, Velvet fronted Euphonia, and others. Afternoon return to Bogota to finish our tour.
After breakfast, transfer to Bogota International Airport and check in assistance for international flight. End of services.
