After a delicious breakfast we will enjoy a panoramic view of Huaca Pucllana, a pre-Columbian site from the 4th century. This adobe structure was used for administrative and ceremonial purposes during the time of the ‘Lima Culture’, which flourished some 1,500 years ago. Then, we will continue the exploration of Colonial Lima. First, we will stop off at the Main Square, to get a chance to explore the square on foot and admire the exteriors of the Government Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, and the City Hall, all examples of Lima’s still-present colonial architectural opulence

We will visit the Cathedral of Lima; as walking through the Cathedral’s numerous chapels, we’ll travel to the past and discover various architectural styles (from Renaissance to Neo-Classical), and learn about the religious history of Peru. Our tour continues with the visit to San Francisco Convent built in the 17th century, and its “Catacombs” ancient underground cemetery of Lima.

Continuing our visit we will enter the enchanted Circuito Mágico del Agua (Circuit of water fountains). Built in 2007, this park comprises the largest fountain complex in the world, as attested by the Guinness Book of World Records. Here, we will attend a marvelous performance that combines water, lights, music, and holograms working in harmony to produce an unforgettable show. We will get a chance to explore this quaint town, famous for its artisan markets where we can find extraordinarily fine jewelry and ceramic and textile craftwork. Few miles away, on the slopes of a mountain, which overlooks the Vilcanota River is the Archaeological Park of Pisac, where we will find andens of different areas and altitudes separate by architectural structures. The most notable of these is the solar calendar (INTIWATANA) that means, “Where the sun is tied”. Finally, we will visit one of the last remaining Incan towns, Ollantaytambo, which was once fiercely guarded by a massive fortress. We will discover the large archaeological complex of what used to serve as a wayside inn for royal delegations on long journeys. Surviving structures here include multiple walls and towers that were used to protect the citadel from possible invasions. Overnight in Valle Sagrado. But, in addition, it proves the undeniable firmness of the great administrative capacity of the empire and its powerful logistic system capable of mobilizing and organizing such a work.

We will then enjoy the best view of the city of Cusco from atop Cerro Pukamoqo (Red Peak), a natural scenic overlook from which the outstretched arms of Cristo Blanco, a massive white statue of Christ, embrace the city in a benevolent gesture. As we return to the lower part of the city, we will stop off at the San Pedro Market, which being the city’s main street market, will give you an opportunity to get to know the products of Cusco, overwhelming you with the sights, aromas, tastes, and colors of the region.
